Skin tones and underpainting is filled in, background color is applied. The chair has received no real attention. Tinted glazes will be applied to all areas next. Notice the reflected red on the face, this serves to provide volume and indicate the turning forms.

Looking back: In some ways, this is may favorite stage of the painting. Everything to this point is quick and loose and requires no great problem solving. But it also sets up all the groundwork for every problem I'll need to resolve later.

I love glazing and building tone and modifying the subtle shifts, but it is all pretty intuitive up to this stage.
