Artwork > Developing a Large Portrait

The first glazes (semi-transparent paint applied in layers) is applied to the background. This starts to create the chiaroscuro (light and dark) to highlight Eleanor's face and provide a bit of that Rembrandt drama. No glazing has yet been applied to the figure proper and the chair is still being resolved.
